Reasons I Still Haven't Set Up my Bike Trainer

With the recent snows and dropping temperatures it is really time to get serious about riding my bicycle on the bike trainer. But serious is always something that I've had a little problem with. Here are the reasons I have yet to set up my bike trainer

Reasons I Haven't Set up my Bike Trainer

  • The animals have taken to sleeping directly where the trainer is destined to go. And I don't know about you, but I'm not messing with that gigantic cat. He's like twice the size of Misty's in that photo.
  • I can't find my spare skewer.
  • I can't find anything on the television that would go with a one hour bike session.
  • I can't seem to accept that most of the trails are now snow covered.
  • Spinning your wheels in the living room is nothing like spinning your wheels on the road with the wind in your hair.
Okay, fess up. What are the reasons you haven't either set up or been on your bike trainer?

Mine is now sat in the box too.
If it gets any colder I sure as heck wont be out riding, although i'm not sure that will mean the turbo will get more use.

Because I have studded snow tires! The miles have been few, but the terrain has been tough. Just getting around town feels like a mountain bike ride. If I'm pedaling, I need to be going somewhere...

I don't believe I'd mess with a cat that sized either,LOL!

The reason I haven't set-up my trainer yet is I have never owned one...I ride year round outdoors,as long as it stays above -5 F or so (which it's rare it gets that cold, let alone below it).

Jeff's (above comment) got the right idea in his post...studded tires! I[ve never needed them for rural road riding, but they would definately have made some rides a lot less like work LOL!

I think you all are on to something here! Maybe the bike trainer is so not the way to go this winter...

ooOoo... We have the very same trainer. ;-) Ours was put in our dining room a few weeks back (& I have already completed a number of monotonous miles on it) but when the weather permits I keep removing the bike and going for a quick ride around the local villages.

BTW I just love your Monster cat!!

Reason I haven't set up my bike trainer? For the past 15 years? They're the devil's torture rack. Sweaty, noisy, boring and bad for whatever bike you clamp to them.

Go trail running in the snow. Much more fun.

Trainer? Gawd, I hate riding inside. Studded tires for icy streets -- but if there's decent snow, I'm on the skis instead.

I haven't set up my trainer since I had shoulder surgery and couldn't ride in the wild. Fortunately that's all in the past and with studs on the commuter and extreme studs on the mountain bike, I have no excuse not to ride.
