I picked up this simple and tasty backpacking recipe from a friend. This one is easy to do with one pot and isn’t too messy.
Ingredients:
Precooked, dehydrated, or canned chicken
Dry Mashed Potatoe Package- we choose butter and herb
Water
Butter
Steps
Precook chicken and cook your first night out or use chicken from a can or dried chicken
Heat chicken with some oil, butter or plain water
Use instant gravy package and follow directions.
Ours required one cup of water and removal from heat.
Place in your bowl for hang time and to free up the pot for a shake.
Boil water and a bit of butter if you have it (works fine too if you don’t have the butter)
Cook up one package of instant mashed potatoes. We choose butter and herb. Yum.Serve and enjoy.

Nothing like a hot meal when camping out, especially after hiking all day. My 14-yr old son is getting interested in these types of activities - hopefully his dad will step up, but in case he doesn't I'm doing some planning. But in Florida - we have a very small window where the weather is tolerable to sleep outdoors! Thanks for the recipes so far.
I'm not too sure about canned chicken but the instant mash and gravy sounds like a great idea.
Easy to carry, warm and filling.
Food always seems to taste better while camping.
Scrapworking- I hope that some of these might work for you guys! I definately have some coming up that I wouldn't recommend. I figure people might want to know what and which ones not to do too :)
Red Bike- the chicken in the can is much more tasty then dehydrated chicken, but super bad for you. Really, I can't be too sure it is even chicken- eww :)
You're dead on though! Everything, generally, tastes better after a long day in the woods. :)
